01 Who we are
RCL Connectors & Cables Ltd (“RCL”, “we”, “us”) is an importer, distributor and manufacturer of IT networking, cabling and power products, operating across the UK and internationally. To do this effectively we collect and use personal data.
We are the controller of the personal data we collect from you. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

02 Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and enquiry details - your name, email address, telephone numbers, company name and the content of your message, when you use our contact form, email or call us.
- Account and order details - billing and delivery addresses, order history and correspondence about quotes, orders and deliveries.
- Payment details - bank details where you hold a credit account with us or we pay you as a supplier.
Information collected automatically
- Technical information - your IP address, browser and device details, captured by our website platform and security services to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Spam protection - our contact form uses hCaptcha, which processes device and interaction data to tell people from automated bots.
Email correspondence
If you correspond with us by email, we may keep the content of your messages together with your email address and our responses.
03 How we use it and our lawful bases
We use personal data to provide a first-class service to our customers. Each use relies on a lawful basis under UK GDPR:

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced them against your rights and freedoms. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
05 Where your data is stored
Personal data is processed and stored within the UK or the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we only allow this where the destination benefits from UK adequacy regulations, or where appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum.
06 How long we keep it
- Financial and order records, and related correspondence, are kept for 7 years to meet our legal obligations.
- Enquiries and general email correspondence are kept for up to 7 years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner and we have no legal reason to keep them.
- Employee records, other than those of a financial bearing, are kept for the duration of employment; details of unsuccessful job applicants are kept for 3 months.
07 Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over your personal information:
- To be informed about how your data is used, as set out in this policy.
- Of access to the personal data we hold about you.
- To rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- To erasure (“to be forgotten”) - not absolute, and applies in certain circumstances.
- To restrict processing - not absolute, and applies in certain circumstances.
- To data portability - to receive your data, or have it sent to another controller, in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- To object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
- To withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. There is no fee. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
09 Other websites
We are not responsible for the practices of websites linked to or from ours, or for their content. Links are provided as pointers to information that may be useful. When you follow a link to another website, this policy no longer applies; your browsing on that site is subject to its own rules and policies.
10 Changes to this policy
We will post any changes to this policy on this page, so you are always aware of the information we collect, how we use it and in what circumstances we share it. This policy was last updated in October 2026 and replaces the version of February 2019.
